Bob Snyder brings more than 20 years of sports sales-related experience to his consultancy,Snyder Sports Audio, Ltd. which he opened in 2004. Bob was a radio station general manager in three Top 10 markets, including four years at ESPN Radio 1000 (WMVP) in Chicago. At WMVP, Bob was the principal radio representative for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox along with the responsibility of overall management of the station’s annual multi- million dollar operating budget. For six years while in Washington,D.C., Bob was the principal radio representative of the Washington Bullets, The Washington Capitals, The Washington Redskins and the 112 station Washington Redskins Radio Network while serving first as a sales manager and later as the VP/GM of WTEM Radio, Washington’s all-sports radio station. During portions of that time, Bob also hosted a weekly sports talk show and broadcast American University and University of Maryland Basketball games on ABC’s WMAL Radio.
In the late 90’s Bob founded and was the managing partner of the Miami Matadors professional hockey team in the 32 team East Coast Hockey League. A Double-A Florida Panthers minor league affiliate,the team played in Miami Arena in the late 90’s and was sold after 2 years, becoming the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Bob’s consultancy evaluates and implements emerging audio sales and technology strategies for the sports industry.
Snyder Sports Audio, Ltd. consults for Arbitron Custom Sports Research, The National Hockey League, The Miami Dolphins Radio Network, Big League Broadcasting, The Pittsburgh Penguins, The Minnesota Twins, The Washington Capitals and Baltimore’s CBS Sports Radio.
The firm also owns avirtualevent.com; virtual conferences, conventions and exhibit halls for the sports business.
Bob and long-time Chicago Tribune media columnist Ed Sherman are collaborating on an entertaining, behind-the-scenes book about how and why the 24-hour sports radio format forever changed the relationship between fans and teams. The book, titled FIRST TIME, LONG TIME, is expected to be released the week before the Super Bowl in Texas in January of 2011.
